Introduction

This is actually the read me of the stand alone Kido, but he is part of the bigger mod I'm working on: The Mod for the Wicked. This mod now must have a PG-13 warning! This mod was made, for one part, to increase roleplay. I am against any evil act in real life and none of the things presented in the Kido mod or the entire Mod for the Wicked should in any way be copied in to deeds preformed in real life!

Version 7 adds no extra content, but changes the files, so that later Kido can be easily integrated into the MftW.

Though Kido has been bug-tested already for quite a bit, he might still contain bugs. I should put more times in to tests, but I'm quite impatient. So that is why it is already out. Please report any bugs to his forum called The Mod for the Wicked at Spellhold Studios (which is the bigger mod he is part of)

Kido requires ToB to work.

Compatibility notes

There are no specific install order requests, so install this mod before all mods that are listed as needing to be installed last. As far as known there are no more compatibility problems. There is one with Refinements versions that are older then version 3.

Installation

Windows

Kido, is packed as a rar file. The files can be extracted from the archive using WinRar. If properly extracted (that is extracted into your Bg2 folder), you should have a kido folder, and Setup-Kido.exe in your BG2 folder. To install, simply double-click Setup-Kido.exe and follow the instructions on screen.

Please re-run Setup-Kido.exe in your BG2 folder to reinstall, uninstall or otherwise change components.

Components

List of currently available components (though it is not really worth mentioning):

Kido, The Jester

The main component and of course necessary to install. Install Kido with all his wickedness, strange humor and funny remarks

Kido's portraits

There are three portraits set you can choose from. The default portrait is created by Plasmocat; the alternative by Black Mage. Both are from a group of great artist, that you can find via this link. You can also still opt for the first portrait used for Kido, which is actually the BG1 portrait of Coran, but I can not see in that portait an elven fighter/thief specialised in the bow... so that is why I used it.
My tip is to take a look at the portraits first before installing them. You can view them by going to the Kido folder and then look in the portraits folder.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where can I find Kido?
A: In the Five Flagons Inn. He either be in the basement, where he will is applauding for Biff the Understudy, or upstairs depending on what you've done before you pick him up.

Q: Is Kido not of an illegal alignment?
A: Yes, he is, but he has an explanation for this. (even with a certain mod installed he is not illegal anymore, but I didn't base it on that)

Q: I've killed the mad cleric in the docks district. Did I now kill the possibility to do Kido's quest?
A: Yep, you did. To still be able to do it use CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("dolf"). It is not the same one, but trust me that you need that one.

Q: He, I slept like days in game at, so that Dolf might be finished with his ritual. When does that happen? I mean he doesn't even talk to me anymore.
A: There are actually two checks. One is a timer and one is Kido's level. This is in order to prevent a too powerful weapon to emerge very early in the game. He doesn't talk to you anymore, simply because he is angry cause he already told you to wait.

Q: Wha! Kido is talking all weird and stuff. What must I do or is that part of the game?
A: Yes and no. If he is talking his usual weird stuff, then yes it is part of the game. However, if he just saying all strange lines that are obviously not his, then you strings got mixed up. Hover over Kido with the pointer and hit the T key. After a few seconds you should have control again and he should be he usual perky self again.

Q: Do you have a tip for playing with Kido?
A: Do consider taking him into a more neutral party (at least combined of several alignments) for Kido shines in his wickedness around good guys (also with evil ones, but i.e. the banters with Minsc are considered very good)

Q: I want spoilers! I want to know every possibility in which Kido talks.
A: Go to the forum. It is your best option for these kind of things. For instance; all interjections that are possible are mentioned there.

Q: I've found a bug / incompatibility / have a suggestion!
A: Contact me and I'll deal with it as soon as possible.

Q: I've found a grammar error!
A: Again, contact me and I'll change it.

Q: I want to translate the mod!
A: Great, really great! I love to have it in multiple languages. Contact me or go to the forum and will talk. Oh, of course you will get all the credit for translating.
